Overview
hata map is a local directory that helps Ukrainians in Chicago find Ukrainian businesses, services, organizations, and events. This page describes how hata map handles information in the current product. It is a practical description of our privacy practices, not a promise that any online service can provide absolute security.
Information We Collect
hata map processes information that people submit or that is needed to operate the directory.
- Public business submissions may include business name, category, Instagram, Facebook, website, phone, email, address, city, service area, photo URL, and a short description.
- Submitted information may be reviewed, edited, published, rejected, hidden, archived, or removed by the HATA team.
- Published listing and event information may be visible publicly on hata map.
Product Analytics
hata map records limited product-usage events to understand whether search, categories, listings, events, and submissions are useful. Current events may include search_query, category_click, card_view, instagram_click, website_click, phone_click, directions_click, event_view, and submit_business.
These analytics are used to improve search and navigation, understand which listings and events are useful, and monitor submissions. hata map does not currently implement reliable unique visitor tracking, and analytics-event totals are not treated as unique visitors.
Location and Maps
Browser geolocation is optional. If you use features such as “Near me,” distance display, or map location, your browser may ask for location permission.
- If you allow location access, your browser sends coordinates for that request so hata map can show nearby results or a user marker.
- Precise browser location is not saved as a listing record in the database.
- Coordinates may appear in request URLs or operational server logs for the request.
- Google Maps services may process map usage and location-related data when the map loads or when directions are opened.
- If you decline location access, nearby features use a fallback area or continue without distance/location features.
Cookies and Browser Storage
- A language cookie stores the selected language preference.
- The Admin area uses an essential authentication cookie for logged-in HATA team members.
- sessionStorage is used to avoid duplicate analytics events in the same browser session, such as repeated listing or event page views.
- hata map does not currently use advertising cookies or sell user data.
- localStorage is not currently used by the public application.
Third-Party Services
hata map uses service providers needed to run the product:
- Google Maps and Google APIs may process map, directions, and geocoding-related data. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudinary hosts and optimizes uploaded listing and event images. See Cloudinary Privacy Policy.
- Render hosts the application and database infrastructure. See Render Privacy Policy.
- Google Sheets and Google Drive are used by the HATA team for content operations, event images, and editorial workflows.
Sharing and Sale
- hata map does not sell personal information.
- Business information submitted for publication may be displayed publicly after approval.
- Information may be processed by infrastructure and service providers needed to operate the platform.
- Information may be disclosed if required by law or to protect the platform, users, or community.
Data Retention
Public business and event information may remain while a listing is active. Rejected or removed submissions may be retained temporarily for moderation, fraud prevention, or operational records. Analytics records may be retained to understand product usage. Removal requests are reviewed and handled within a reasonable period.
Correction and Deletion Requests
To request correction of business information, removal of a listing, deletion of submitted personal information, or to ask a privacy question, contact us at hata.usa0@gmail.com.
Children
hata map is a general local directory. It is not intended to collect personal information directly from children.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. When material revisions are made, the “Last updated” date will be changed.
